My Favorite Things
Yeah, I definitely love whiskers on kittens. And brown paper packages, if they arrive bearing books.
Allow me to introduce you to my very favorite thing, my cat and Blog Mascot, Tsuki. In Japanese, ‘tsuki’ means ‘moon’. Tsuki’s many nicknames include ‘Little Round Thing’, ‘Dumpling’, and ‘Tuchus’. Last night, she slept next to my pillow, waking me periodically with affectionate head-butts to my forehead and loud purrs. Tsuki purrs are an experience, as if the county recycling truck had pulled into the house and sat idling against the bedframe.
But the moon has a hidden side. In Japanese, ‘tsuki’ is also a sword cut, the dramatic ‘thrust to the throat’. Tsuki’s favorite wrestling tactic: LEAP, grab the opponent’s head, bowl him over with the lunar body, and bite his tender throat. Hard.
Better than T.V.
Luckily for her prey, Tsuki is a creature of much heart and few teeth.
